As winter approaches, now is the time to have your vehicle inspected properly. This includes internal parts of the vehicle, as well as the exterior parts. When inspecting the vehicle, it is best to bring it in so we can inspect the parts for you. This will include anything under the hood, as well as the tires on your vehicle. The tires are an important part of the vehicle. This is because they are the only part that connects the vehicle to the surface of the road. Without tires, your vehicle will not be able to travel or operate. If you notice any issues between regular tire inspections, make sure you bring the vehicle in as soon as you can. This can help prevent further or more severe problems from forming. Noticing an issue early can save time, money, and frustration in the long run. Repairing it will cost less than if you let the problem develop into a more serious one.
Notice how the Tires are Wearing
Between regular inspections, you can check the tires yourself. The first thing to look at is how the treat is wearing on them. The best way to check the tread is to take a penny and place it upside down in the tread groove on each tire. If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, then the tread has worn down too far. New tires may be recommended so you have the safest tires possible. Make sure to bring the vehicle in, because we can inspect the overall condition of the tires. Sometimes rotating the tires can help them last a little longer. Since the tread should wear evenly, rotating them can get some more use out of them. This can also help the tires have better grip on the surface of the road when you travel.
The Air Pressure Should be Checked Regularly
Along with checking the tread, take the time to check the air pressure. If you are unsure what the proper amount of air pressure should be in the tires, make sure to consult the vehicle owner’s manual. Having the tires properly inflated can also help improve the fuel efficiency of your vehicle. Tires that are low on air could increase the chance for a blowout. They will also cause poor fuel mileage because more of the tire will be in contact with the surface of the road. Over inflated tires are more prone to picking up sharp objects or debris that could be on the surface of the road. It could also cause an uncomfortable ride as there would be less contact with the surface of the road.
Always Remember to Check the Spare Tire
Along with checking the tires, do not forget to check the spare tire. This is easily forgotten about until it is needed. The spare tire is important because you will have to rely on it to get you to your destination if a regular tire goes flat. Make sure the spare tire is in good condition. If you have any questions about it, bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the spare tire for you.
